Blind Styles
Design & aesthetics
Venetian blinds
Aluminium, real wood and faux-wood venetian blinds give precise, adjustable light and privacy control throughout the working day. Slat tilt redirects sunlight away from screens without closing the blind entirely, keeping natural light in the space.
Key points:

Slat tilt for precise light direction at any point in the day
Clean finish for both contemporary and traditional office settings
Easy to maintain and built for high-use environments
Roman blinds
Roman blinds suit office interiors where aesthetics are part of the specification alongside performance. Fabric panels fold neatly when raised. Available in commercial fabrics
Key points:
Blackout and thermal lining options available
Suited to boardrooms, executive offices and formal meeting rooms
Made to measure for exact window dimensions
Roller blinds
The most widely specified blind in commercial office settings. Available in blackout, dim-out, screen and voile fabrics. Side-guided wire or track options add stability for high-use or exposed installations.
Key points:
Blackout, dim-out, screen, voile and thermal fabric options
Side-guided track options for stability in commercial settings
Suitable for wide-span windows and large formats
All fabrics available as motorised

Suited to large windows, glazed walls and open-plan layouts
Fabric or PVC louvres with full rotation
Low stacking depth when fully open
Wide range of fabrics, finishes and colours

Performance Blinds
Performance & purpose
Duette (honeycomb) blinds
The cellular structure of Duette blinds traps air at the window, reducing heat loss in winter and limiting solar heat gain in summer. A practical energy-efficiency measure for glass-heavy office buildings used year round.
Key points:
Cellular structure provides thermal insulation at the glass
Reduces heat loss in winter and solar gain in summer
Lowers reliance on heating and cooling systems
Available in multiple fabrics and light-control levels
Acoustic blinds
Acoustic-grade fabrics reduce echo and lower ambient noise levels in shared workspaces. A practical specification for open-plan offices where noise management is part of the brief, working alongside partitioning and soft furnishings.
Key points:
Acoustic-grade fabrics that reduce sound reflection
Suitable for open-plan offices and shared workspaces

FAQs
What are the best office blinds for reducing glare on computer screens?
Screen-fabric roller blinds and solar anti-glare blinds are the most effective options. Screen fabrics allow natural light through while cutting direct solar glare. For south or west-facing elevations with persistent sun, UKAS-certified solar anti-glare polymer film blinds block over 99% of UV and reduce heat build-up through the glass. Venetian and vertical blinds with adjustable slats or louvres give occupants direct control over light direction without having to close the blind entirely.
Do commercial office blinds need to meet fire safety requirements?
Yes. Commercial environments require window treatments that meet relevant fire safety performance standards. All fabrics and systems supplied by Aquarius for commercial office use are selected to meet those requirements. Compliance documentation can be provided as part of the project process.
What is the difference between commercial blinds and residential blinds?
Commercial blinds are specified for durability, compliance and performance in high-use environments. They use heavier fabrics, more robust mechanisms and fixings rated for frequent daily use. Residential blinds are not designed to meet commercial safety requirements and do not hold up to the wear levels of a working office.
Can office blinds be motorised?
Yes. All standard blind types, including roller, venetian, vertical and roman, can be motorised. Control is via smartphone app, remote control or wall-mounted panel. Automated scheduling lets blinds open and close on a set programme throughout the day. Motor systems supplied include Silent Gliss and Somfy. Integration with Lutron and Control4 building management systems is available where required.
Which blind type works best in a boardroom or meeting room?
For screen-based meetings and presentations, blackout roller blinds are the most common specification. For spaces needing flexible light control throughout the day, venetian blinds with adjustable slats work well. Where a more formal aesthetic is needed, roman blinds in a commercial blackout or thermal fabric are a good option. Motorised systems are worth specifying in boardrooms where one-touch operation matters.
Are acoustic blinds effective in an open-plan office?
Acoustic-grade fabrics reduce sound reflection and echo in open-plan spaces. They work best as part of a broader approach alongside soft furnishings and partitioning, but they are a practical specification where noise management is on the brief.
How does the installation process work for a commercial office project?
A dedicated Project Manager is assigned from the initial survey through to installation and aftercare. Surveys confirm measurements, window conditions and any access requirements. Products are manufactured to the confirmed specification and installed by our own team, with work scheduled around your operational hours.
Can office blinds be connected to a building management system?
Yes. Motorised blind systems can be integrated with Lutron and Control4 platforms, allowing blinds to operate as part of a wider building automation programme. This suits larger office buildings where centralised control of lighting, temperature and solar shading is required.
